pip install pyHMT2DpyHMT2D (Python Hydraulic Modeling Tools — 2D), by Xiaofeng Liu's group at Penn State, wraps the two dominant free 2D engines — SRH-2D and HEC-RAS 2D — in one Python interface: run models, read their native results, convert meshes and solutions to open formats like VTK for ParaView, and compare or calibrate across engines from scripts.
That cross-model layer is its distinctive value: the same calibration or sensitivity loop can drive either engine, and results land in a common format for post-processing. A research-grade but well-documented tool that fills a genuine gap between the RAS-specific and GUI-bound alternatives.
