About ANUGA

ANUGA, developed by Geoscience Australia and the Australian National University, solves the 2D shallow-water equations with a finite-volume scheme on unstructured triangular meshes, driven entirely from Python scripts. Its shock-capturing solver handles dam breaks, flash floods and tsunami inundation robustly, and the scripted workflow makes scenario batching natural.

Because the entire model is a Python program, ANUGA appeals to teams who want full automation and reproducibility without licence servers. The trade-off is the absence of a polished GUI — you work in code and visualise results in QGIS or ParaView.
