Deltares' distributed hydrological model in Julia — gridded rainfall-runoff with kinematic-wave routing.
by Deltares
Wflow.jl is Deltares' open distributed hydrological framework, rebuilt in Julia for speed. Its flagship concept, wflow_sbm, simulates the vertical soil water balance on a grid with kinematic-wave or local-inertial routing — well suited to flood forecasting, water-balance and land-use studies at catchment to national scale.
Paired with HydroMT for automated model building from global datasets, Wflow gets a working distributed model of almost any basin on earth surprisingly quickly, which is exactly how Deltares uses it in global flood-forecasting services. Fully open source and actively developed.
