eWater's stormwater-quality model — the WSUD assessment standard across Australian councils.
by eWater
MUSIC (Model for Urban Stormwater Improvement Conceptualisation) models urban stormwater quantity and quality through treatment trains — wetlands, bioretention, swales, ponds, gross pollutant traps — at planning level. In Australia it is effectively mandatory: most councils specify MUSIC modelling for water-sensitive-urban-design (WSUD) compliance, and MUSIC Auditor guidelines exist to standardise submissions.
Outside Australia its role is filled by SWMM's LID modules or SUSTAIN-style tools, but for Australian development approvals MUSIC is the path of least resistance and the shared language between designer and assessor.
