The Python interface to MODFLOW — build, run and post-process groundwater models entirely in code.
Multi-species solute transport for MODFLOW — advection, dispersion, sorption and reactions in aquifers.
by US Geological Survey
MT3D-USGS is the USGS-supported continuation of MT3DMS, the standard solute-transport companion to MODFLOW-2005-era flow models: advection, dispersion, source/sink mixing, equilibrium and kinetic sorption, and first-order reactions for multiple species, with support for unsaturated-zone transport and streamflow transport linked to SFR.
For contaminated-site work built on classic MODFLOW it remains the expected transport engine (and the basis RT3D/SEAM3D built on). New projects starting on MODFLOW 6 can increasingly use its native GWT transport model instead; MT3D-USGS remains essential for the vast installed base.
