About Iber

Iber, developed by GEAMA (University of A Coruña), the Flumen institute and CIMNE, is a freeware 2D finite-volume model for river hydraulics and floodplain inundation with modules for turbulence, sediment transport, water quality and habitat assessment — all inside a complete GUI built on GiD, so no separate mesh generator is needed.

It is the de facto standard for flood studies in Spain and widely used across Latin America; recent versions added GPU computing. For a zero-cost package with a real interface, Iber's breadth of modules is hard to match.
